Tax and service: a topical duet. Lecture & Debate of Tuesday, November 30
This lecture & debate session aimed at highlighting the role of fees due in payment for certain services in the framework of a policy that strives to set up a sustainable and durable financial space. In other words, the goal is to identify how the taxpayer-citizen / user-citizen couple functions today, as well as to outline the ways in which it is likely to function in the future. The succession of crises in the past 30 years has led the powers that be to opt for a strict control of public expenditure without any rise in tax, as it is believed that such a rise could have negative effects on consumption and production. Yet the fact remains that if public services are to maintain acceptable standards, they need sufficient financial means.
